The story of made/in
made/in was founded in 2020 by Nicole Hardt and Anjana Das as a platform to explore the role and future of textile handcrafts within the contemporary fashion landscape. Conceived as a space for artistic exchange, research, and experimentation, the project is grounded in a deep respect for craftsmanship as a shared cultural heritage.
At its core, made/in seeks to highlight the beauty and intelligence of textile handcrafts—bringing attention to the knowledge of artisans while exploring how traditional techniques can evolve through new ideas and processes. The initiative was created to foster dialogue around sustainability, excellence, and the preservation of endangered crafts.
Over time, this research-led project has evolved into a limited collection. Today, made/in continues through a curated selection of pieces presented within White Champa, translating its original exploration into garments and textiles that embody both tradition and contemporary design.
Each piece reflects an ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, material integrity, and a slower, more considered approach to fashion—connecting the spirit of the project with the experience of wearing and living with these textiles.
